Flash Earth adds NASA satellites
Flash genius Paul Neave from the UK, has updated Flash Earth to include images from NASA’s OnEarth MODIS satellites, as well as : Ask.com, Yahoo! Maps & OpenLayers.org.
The NASA imagery is updated daily showing images of cloud formations from all over our planet so if you’re wondering whet the weather is going to be, have a look at your corner of the World with Flash Earth NASA Terra imagery.
Paul Neave – ” Unfortunately NASA’s website isn’t as nippy as Google’s, and the images are sometimes slow to download, so try at different times of the day if you can’t see owt” Something tells me Paul Neave is a fellow northerner, could be wrong, just got an inklin’
Other updates : a search box, a better interface and a more reactive zooming bar. Flash earth picks up from where you left off on your last visit and your can leave bookmarks.
“This started as a project to see if Google Maps could be made better using Flash – and it ended up exeeding my own expectations”
Mapping services incorperated into Flash Earth to date:
- Google Maps
- Microsoft VE (aerial)
- Microsoft VE (labels)
- Yahoo! Maps
- Ask.com (aerial)
- Ask.com (physical)
- OpenLayers
- NASA Terra (daily)
All of these mapping sevices are available individually , its just very practical having them on one interface , with the ability to switch from one to the other depending on how well a given area is covered.
Marvellous!
