French presidential campaign – a Blast
There are many feed remixing solutions out of private beta these days and judging from the blog coverage, Blastfeed solutions with the best of them. Which is not bad to say that 2or3things are a three-man Parisian start-up, 8 months young.
Here in France the presidential campaign is in full flog and 2or3things have come up with “A little bit of marketing to show what we can do with the Blastfeed platform. We (2or3things/blog) have put together a web site www.elysee2007endirect (en/fr) that is automatically fed with the Blastfeed filtering and aggregating service.â€
Doubts have been raised about these filter/mix delivery services, the concern being that eventually all the main RSS readers will employ similar functions. In the mean time Blastfeed can filter RSS, ATOM and OPML and serve it up in RSS, email alerts and IM (SMS soon?) or in a widget take-out for your web page. It is remarkably easy to use and that is a big advantage, as feed handling still isn’t the mainstream internet activity many had predicted.
In the future services like these will perhaps be looking at more specialised uses of the XML publishing format and/or being bought-out by one of the 2or3bigthings out there.
Another popular French (Corsica) feed-mix/filter service is Xfruits, with the extra options of RSS to PDF, OPML to mobile phone and there’s even talk of desktop files to RSS!?
