The widget wagon rolls on…

February 8th, 2007 · No Comments

criteo.jpgFrench start-up Criteo, the distributed recommendation service, is dishing out their ‘collaborative filtering technology’ for use in the blogosphere with the AutoRoll widget.

The idea is a dynamic blog roll made up of similar sites that the people who visit your site have an affinity with. It’s a community thing I suppose, a kind of MyBlogLogs for recommending other sites or blogs. Blog owners will benefit from having links to their site generated automatically on other sites and visitors will have a ‘if you like this then you’ll like these..’ thingy. It’s in private beta testing for the minute, though it should be live in a week or so. If you cant wait and beta testing tweeks your nipples then sign up here.

If your tweeks are more hard core - in need of naked code, then Criteo’s API has just gone public. Documentation and free developer account - here.

Update: the AutoRoll widget has just been featured on Web Tools Collection & Planet.Wordpress so I take that to mean it’s WP 2.1 friendly.
