After all the buzz on October 24 – Google launched Google CSE (custom search engine) a system for customizing the search engine around a given theme – here are 3 systems that have already been transplanted onto Google. The theme? – throwing out the Ads.
The first one uses Google CSE, the second a simple macro and the third…you tell me!
They each try in their own way, like King Canute on a beach, to send back the invading tide of unwanted advertising from whence it came. It is a fact, that a small number of sites take up a vast amount of real estate in the results pages. Add to that: shopping comparison sites, affiliate link sites, Pay Per Cick ad sites and the rest…So lets see if they get their feet wet.

MySERP is a vertical search engine, that is in my mind, the most serious of the three, in this quest a little upopian maybe. It proposes a Google that is ‘cleaner’ with the help of a filter and the possibility to turn it off for comparisons. A research for ‘ipod’ for example, compared to a classic search, is in effect, quite revealing.
GiveMeBackMyGoogle developed by Oliver Humpage who didn’t wait for the launching of Google CSE to write a macro of his own that removes a whole list of Humpage blacklisted websites from the resulting pages.
Take a look yourselves & make some comparisons of the results they give you with the results of an un-vetted Google.
