AllPeers transforms Firefox into P2P
U.K. start-up AllPeers Ltd have just released AllPeers Beta 0.52 - 10 October. Developed by Matthew Gertner, specialist in XML technologies & Cédric Maloux, it is a P2P network for Firefox users & installs as an extension.
Only the user can authorise other people to find and share their files, this is what is known as a ‘DarkNet’, you’re not using a public P2P network, so your files are safe and secure. With it you can share webpages, videos, photos, music or any other files with family & friends.
According to AllPeers CEO and project leader, Cédric Maloux, the plug-in represents more than 200,000 lines of C++ and Javascript code.

According to Micheal Arrington over at Techcrunch “This company is set to take the world by storm”.
AllPeers uses the BitTorrent protocol to share files, so there is no central server for the company to manage.
The application is free in its basic form, but AllPeers claims that the company will be offering additional paid services in order to create a working business model (AllPeers Ltd. received venture capital funding recently from two of the same firms that backed Skype).
AllPeers Ltd. is a privately held company based in Oxford, UK.
