Criteo, a young French company has concived an “analytic motor of prediction - in real time - on the Net” and is going to apply this technology of “collaborative filtering” on YouTube’s video catalogue.

“In fact the installation of the project required the developement and the setting up of a technical platform dedicated to YouTube”, explained John-Baptist Rudelle, P-DG at Criteo.

The French enterprise has developed a technology that is based on the behaviour of internautes & the assessement of products that they have given. Comparing this data, the analytic motor from Criteo is capable of “extrapolating the likes & dislikes of each user so as to better recommend an ultra personized selection of appropriate products”.

Applied to YouTube, this analytic motor will be able to facilitate the search process for its members. From a users profile, Criteo identifies his/her ‘video univers’ & can then propose a truly personaized list of videos to watch.

“Considering the specific structure of the catalogue - massive volume of data, very heterogeneous), it was necessary to calibrate an algorythm of particular recommendations”, added J.B. Rudelle, “All sites that manage enormous volumes of content will need a filtering technology”.
